Kindle Fire vs iPad

There is a new debate forming between the Kindle Fire vs iPad that needs to be discussed.  The Kindle Fire is the first Android powered tablet that Amazon has released.  Some people believe that they are trying to compete head on with Apple in the tablet market however with the price point and dimensions of the Kindle Fire,Amazon is actually going after a completely different segment of the tablet marketplace.

The Kindle Fire is different from the other Kindles in the family simply from the fact that is backlit and features a fully color screen.  It currently has the ability to play over eighteen million movies,TV shows, magazines and books.  It puts the Amazon Appstore in the palm of your hand so you can play games like Angry Birds on another tablet.  It has a brand new web browser called Silk that brings the internet to life in ultra fast tablet speed.  The multi-gesture touch screen features bright colors and wide viewing angles which is sure to amaze.  The processor has a duel core which is going to be the new standard when it comes to the future generations of tablets.

You’ll first need to ask yourself a few questions before making a decision to buy a Kindle Fire.  The first question is budget.  If money isn’t a problem for you then you’re still with me.  People who are on a tight budget should stop reading and buy their Kindle fire now.  The iPad is significantly more money and is in a different class when it comes to tablets.  Think of the iPad like a BMW while the Kindle Fire is a really nice Honda.  Both will get you from A to B however your ride will be completely different, and rightfully so when it comes to price.

Next, try to figure out how you plan on using the device.  If you’re the kind of person who likes to sit outside and read, this probably isn’t the right handheld device for you.  Although the color screen is nice,it will create some glare issues due to the nature of the design.  You’re better off going with one of the e ink style Kindles which are designed more for pure readers.

While the Kindle Fire is a major upgrade in the world of tablets,it’s still not going to knock Apple off the top of the hill.  It’s a great alternative when it comes to size and cost for people that aren’t quite sure if they want to dip their toes into the tablet world.  It will greatly expand upon the market for entry level tablets which may lead to Amazon coming out with another tablet in the future that’s larger and more powerful to try to topple the iPad from the undisputed king of the world.
